Inverin (Indreabhán), Co. Galway is a picturesque coastal village situated in the Connemara Gaeltacht, approximately 24 km west of Galway City. Renowned for its strong Irish language heritage, Inverin offers visitors a blend of cultural richness and natural beauty.
One of Inverin's highlights is An Trá Mór (The Big Beach), a Blue Flag beach known for its expansive sandy shores and clear waters. The beach is equipped with facilities such as parking, toilets, and seasonal lifeguard services, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for visitors.
You can find everything you need close by with a Tesco supermarket, a modern playground and GAA pitch. There are also plenty of hiking trails in the area.
Inverin Loop Trail: A moderate 16.6 km (10.3 miles) loop with an elevation gain of 78 meters (256 feet). This trail offers a mixof coastal and inland scenery, taking approximately 3.5 hours to complete.
Spiddal Crafts and Coastal Walk: This 2.9 km circular trail offers a gentle stroll through the village, passing by the harbour, beach, and local craft shops. It's an easy walk, taking approximately 45 minutes, and provides beautiful views of Galway Bay.
Céibh an Spidéil – An Trá MórTrail: An out-and-back route of about 7.7 km (4.8 miles), this trail is considered easy and takesaround 1.5 hours to complete. It offers scenic coastal views and is suitable for all skill levels.
Sli Chonamara Trail: Part of a 220 km way-marked route, this trail passes through Spiddal and continues westward through Inverin and other Connemara villages. It's ideal for those seeking a longer, immersive walking experience.
