As we are continually committed in trying to source, promote and produce Irish and local food. Our menus also showcase a list of the "food growers and producers" that we use to develop our dishes. Therefore, our guests can truly understand our commitment, with having the knowledge of what ingredients are used and where it is sourced from! Hawthorn Lodge is set in a beautiful rural location. However, we are only approximately a fifteen minute car journey away from Cavan Equestrian Centre. The Slieve Russell Hotel & Golf Course, Ballyconnell, is approximately a ten minute car journey away. So we are never far away from local townlands, such as Belturbet! If you fancy taking in some excercise in the fresh country air, why not take a brief walk from Hawthorn Lodge, into the picturesque village of Milltown. Where there is a local convenience store and pub. Along with St Patrick' Church, there is Drumlane Community Resource Centre. Which has a children's play area and a community garden across the road in Milltown village. Take a wander down the country lane from Hawthorn Lodge and see to your right, Drumlane Abbey and Round Tower. Which majestically overlooks Garfinny Lough. Steeped in history, it is believed to be founded by St. Colmcille, dating from 555AD! Please bare in mind, as there are a limited number of taxis available and they may be in high demand, it is advisable that you make arrangements to organise your taxi in advance with the taxi company, to avoid disappointment. Local Buses - As we are located in the middle of the countryside, please be mindful that there are no direct buses from Hawthorn Lodge to any destinations. The only buses available are from Belturbet town centre that go to Cavan, Dublin, etc... Therefore, guests would need to order a taxi from Hawthorn Lodge to Belturbet town centre.
