At the gateway to Connemara this charming 3 bedroom house is located 3 miles west of Oughterard, Co. Galway. With amazing views of the lake this house has been tastefully redecorated and recently extended. Lakeside House is very comfortable and beds are dressed with comfy duvets and quality bed linen. In wintertime, the stove in the Livingroom is very welcoming. (local fuel is supplied free) Lots of books, DVDs and children's toys are supplied in the house.
Lakeside House was built in 1961. It was my family home and I have lovely memories of my childhood here. I now live locally and am available to my guests during their stay. I look forward to welcoming you to stay at Lakeside House.
Lakeside House is in Glengowla West, right at the gateway to Connemara. It’s about 3.5 km from the lovely village of Oughterard, where you’ll find great restaurants, cosy pubs, local shops, a pharmacy, and an ATM. The house has beautiful views of the lake and nearby hills, and it's been recently extended and decorated to make it feel like a real home away from home. It’s a great spot to relax or to head off and explore everything Connemara has to offer. There’s loads to do nearby — go walking, cycling, fishing on Lough Corrib, mountain biking in Derroura Forest Park, or hop on a boat cruise to Ashford Castle with Corrib Cruises. You can visit Glengowla Mines just down the road, take a day trip to Kylemore Abbey, hike Diamond Hill, or check out the beaches around Roundstone. When you’re ready to unwind, you’ll find fantastic food and a friendly atmosphere in local favourites like the Connemara Greenway Café, Powers Thatch, or Clancy’s Bar in Oughterard.
