Our Red Rose Cottage is ideally located in the Irelands Hidden Heartlands, in the village of Killoe, Longford. Only a 6 minutes drive from the N4 Dublin-Sligo road, the area is peaceful & rural. The sitting room has an open fire & a pull out sofa with an open mezzanine roof. Downstairs there is a double room with ensuite, separate bathroom with electric shower & there are two bedrooms & a toilet upstairs. The Red Rose cottage is one of three quaint self catering cottages located together beside a 200 year old restored romantic thatch cottage & up the road is a 5 bedroom guesthouse. The cottages are located in an area called Ennybegs, Killoe in North Longford. The parish borders Newtownforbes, Drumlish, Ballinalee, Edgeworthstown & Longford Town. There are three shops, two pubs & 2 churches. There is a bus service daily in & out of town. It is home to Cairn Hill Longford's highest peak where there is a beautiful walking trail with views of North Longford. There is an ancient burial cairn on the summit of cairn/corn hill. There is also links to the legend Queen Meabh. This is an ideal central base for exploring Ireland. Both Knock & Dublin Airport are only over an hours drive away. Carrick on Shannon is 30 minutes drive away, Sligo & Galway is just over an hours drive & Athlone is only 50 minutes away & 2 churches in the village.
