We stand for environmentally friendly and sustainable tourism in harmony with nature and the people living in the region. Þúfa, our house with soul and personality has two floors. It is located on Vogar family land, close to the lake and the village Reykjahlið. On the ground floor we live as your hosts and on the first floor is the accommodation for our guests. Two separate entrances enable undisturbed privacy for everyone. Our guests have access to the entrance area, 2 bedrooms with 2 single beds, kitchen- and dining area, living room, bathroom with toilet, shower and sink and a balcony with stunning view onto the lake, the explosion crater Hverfjall and the surrounding lava formed landscape. We offer a Slow Travel experience for up to four guests who value silence, rest and relaxation after an eventful day in the midst of unique nature. Our guests share the house with us as their hosts. Our home is a wooden house. Noises and voices are therefore audible between floors. In order to enable everyone living in the house to have a relaxed stay, we ask for mutual respect and compliance with house rules as well as quiet times 10pm - 8am.
About us: Óli was born and raised here in Mývatn, Iceland. His childhood was simply yet educational and full of adventures on their farm. His parents, relatives and ancestors passed on their knowledge about the surrounding nature, life at the lake and it´s traditions, to him. Oli's education as a landscaper and many years as a tour and travel guide are further important milestones for his current way of life. His interest in people, cultures and traditions made him decide to share his knowledge with his guests: learning from each other and living together. Bianca was born and raised in Austria. The Tyrolean mountains and forests have been her playground since childhood, where she experienced the greatest adventures. As an adult Bianca have climbed mountains, seen the wideness, felt the freedom, sensed life. She became increasingly interested in the use of plants and herbs from the area. She taught herself the craft with a wide variety of natural materials. Bianca owe this special connection to nature and the sustainable use of it to her grandfather. Thanks to her trip to Iceland, she is now the partner of a wonderful man, a kindergarten teacher, an handicraft artist and a host.
