Suvereto is a medieval village that enchants with its history and architectural charm. The entrance to the village is marked by the 9th-century Romanesque parish church of San Giusto, famous for its portal decorated with pre-Romanesque motifs and two columns supported by lions. A few steps away is the crenellated gate leading to the historic center, where one can admire significant sites such as the church of the Madonna di sopra la Porta, which holds a historic image linked to a miracle, and the Rocca Aldobrandesca, which dominates the hill. The village is surrounded by imposing medieval walls and towers, while the 13th-century Palazzo Comunale offers a striking view with the Giudici loggia. Also not to be missed is the ancient Convent of St. Francis, which houses a well-preserved cloister and the Church of the Crucifix, built in 1500. A few steps away, the surrounding landscape of cork oaks, olive trees and vines adds a dimension of peace and natural beauty. Suvereto is located in the Livorno hinterland, not far from the border with the province of Grosseto. Although not immediately accessible from major Tuscan cities, its location nevertheless offers an interesting journey. From Florence, it can be reached in a little more than 2 hours via the FI-PI-LI and the A12, exiting at Rosignano, then continuing on the SS1 Aurelia to Venturina, from where Suvereto can be reached in less than 10 minutes. From Pisa and Livorno, on the other hand, it takes about an hour and 10 minutes, driving along the Aurelia and exiting at Venturina. For those traveling by train, the nearest station is Campiglia Marittima, from which you can take bus number 3 to reach Suvereto in about 20 minutes.
