It is important for us to succeed in this mission and it is rewarding when we see our guests pleased. It's wonderful for us to be able to tell the story and the traditions of "O 'munti", to tell our own stories when we were kids and came to this fascinating place at the time when it was still used as a wine mill, to show photos as it was before restoration and to show with how much care and respect the place has been restored. We like to make our guests discover unbeaten paths and unknown anecdotes about places that often remain in the shadows, hidden by more popular and famous locations and names. We identify ourselves among these "hidden" places that deserve to be "discovered" because we offer genuineness in everything we do. We take care of our guests, welcoming them warmly in our "family".

The ancient palmento from XIX century, wisely restored, indisputably represents the core and the charm of La pietra antica O' munti. When you enter, it is "History" that welcomes you, talking through the walls, the restaurant floor made of lava stones and the wood of the ancient wine press, that stands there in all its majesty. Each object of the Sicilian rural tradition, carefully restored and now placed inside the building in a sort of museum exhibition, seems to tell its own story and the one of those who crafted it, by hand, and used it, long time ago. The rooms take the names from local wines: Etna rosso, Nerello Mascalese, Catarratto, 'Nzolia... La pietra antica O' munti offers tranquility and relax, with its green countryside all around, with the dry stones terraced retaining walls, and the rural paths as from the past. At the same time it is also an excellent starting point to get to renowned locations such as Taormina, Etna, Catania or Siracusa, easily reachable by the A18 highway, which is only 15 minutes away by car. With a simple and genuine cuisine based on high quality ingredients, La pietra antica O' munti offers excellent traditional Sicilian dishes.

La pietra antica O 'munti is located in the small village of Puntalazzo, on a hill in a panoramic position 600 m above sea level and on the Etna slopes. The Etna tour is very interesting, through the characteristic and fascinating landscape that only Etna can offer. At 3 km distance is the millenary tree Castagno dei Cento Cavalli (hundred horses chestnut), about half an hour distance is Taormina, the Alcantara river’s gorges, Acireale with its baroque architecture, Acitrezza and Acicastello made famous by Verga’s novel "I Malavoglia". Also are within reach in short time the beautiful medieval villages of Castelmola, Forza d'Agrò and Castiglione di Sicilia, crossed by the Alcantara river... In 15 minutes by car is the CircumETNEA railway station: from April to September it is possible to buy a special ticket that allows tourists to take a hop on hop off tour of the Etna mountain, on the characteristic "Littorina" (a single track small train), through the countryside and vineyards of the Etna grapes, where one can stop for tastings of both wines and typical products.
