Welcome to Obuse Guesthouse, a Place to Feel the Spirit of Obuse [Obuse Guesthouse] is a cozy accommodation featuring three rooms housed in a historic Edo-era traditional Japanese house and storehouse, located right in the heart of Obuse. During the Edo period, a man captivated by the natural beauty and culture of Obuse stayed here and painted every day. That man was Katsushika Hokusai, often referred to as "the most famous Japanese artist in the world." [Obuse Guesthouse] is located just a three-minute walk from Hokusai’s atelier. The building has stood since the time when Hokusai himself strolled through the area during breaks in his creative work. Take your time to relax and reflect on the life and art of this legendary painter as you enjoy your stay.

A Journey with Snow Monkeys and Hokusai: Suggested Itinerary Access Information Jigokudani Monkey Park (famous for the Snow Monkeys): About 1 hour by train and bus, or 40 minutes by car. Shiga Kogen, Ryuoo, and Madarao Ski Resorts: About 1 hour 20 minutes by train and bus, or 50 minutes by car. Additionally, many other ski resorts, such as Togakushi Highlands, Kurohime Highlands, and Nozawa Onsen Ski Resort, are also accessible from Obuse.
