Business hours are from 9:00 to 21:00, and assistance is unavailable outside of these hours. Check-in Information: Check-in is by reservation only, and we request that you inform us of your arrival time and method at least one week prior to your stay. Luggage drop-off starts at 11:30, and check-in is available from 16:00 to 21:00. Late check-ins after 21:00 incur additional charges: 5,000 yen per 30 minutes, plus 30,000 yen after 22:30 for staff taxi fare. Check-out is self-service and must be completed by 10:00 AM. We cannot store luggage onsite after check-out but can offer storage at our office near Kyoto Station. Vehicle Arrangements: Assistance with vehicle arrangements during your stay is available upon request. Fees are paid directly to the driver. Other Information: Small animals and insects may be present due to the natural surroundings. Smoking is prohibited indoors but allowed outside with proper etiquette. Garbage must be separated into four categories, and we’ll provide instructions upon arrival. Please lock doors and windows when leaving, and manage valuables yourself. We do not provide cleaning during your stay. If desired, a full cleaning service is available for 30,000 yen. BBQ equipment rental costs 5,000 yen per use, and we can purchase food and beverages for an additional 5,000 yen on the check-in day or 12,000 yen per trip during your stay. The name "Imoarai" (in Japanese, 一口, いもあらい) comes from the historical practice of washing potatoes here and the area's former role as the only outlet for the Oguraike Pond, which no longer exists. Traces of using the river to wash and transport farm produce remain. Another theory suggests that "Imoarai" originates from "Imuharai" (斎む祓い or いむはらい), meaning "purifying one's body to avoid impurity or disaster," as the area served as Kyoto’s entrance from Osaka. It is also known as the birthplace of Kujo negi (Kyoto's specialty Japanese leek). Highlights of the Area Cherry Trees Along the River Cherry trees line both sides of the Maegawa River near “Higashi Imoarai,” creating a beautiful sight during the blooming season. This area, popular for relaxation, was chosen as one of “Kyoto's 200 Best Natural Beauties” in 1995. Former Yamada Family Residence (Kyu Yamadaya Jyutaku) The Yamada family led 13 villages in the Mimakogo area during the Edo period and managed the Oguraike Pond’s fishing industry. Their residence, with its gate, long wall, and main house, is a registered cultural property. The exhibition room includes materials on the now-vanished Oguraike Pond. Recommended Running and Cycling Courses Ujigawa River The nearby Ujigawa River is a fantastic running and cycling spot. Iwashimizu Hachimangu Shrine (6km one way) Known for its strong spiritual energy, the shrine is a place of good luck and protection. It’s located on a mountain, giving it a unique, sacred atmosphere. Koudyabahsi Bridge (5km one way) A long wooden bridge over a scenic river, famous as a filming location for Japanese period dramas.
