Hello, and welcome to this small traditional house on a quiet island in the Seto Inland Sea. This is not a hotel, but a place where you “stay as if you were living here.” Over the years, this house has welcomed professional artists、 writers, philosophers and mathematicians— both from here in Japan and from countries all over the world - many creators who have stayed for weeks or months and shared their days of deep creative work with this place. I hope you will enjoy walking through the peaceful narrow alleys, feeling the sea breeze and the mountain air, and in the evening, picking up local ingredients at the small supermarket just three minutes away. Please relax into the gentle rhythm of the island. During your stay, we simply ask that you leave your room and bedding a little tidier than when you arrived— a small gesture through which each guest helps care for this home and pass it on to the next traveler. One of the greatest charms of this place is the dialogue that naturally arises— with nature, with yourself, and with the people you meet. You may find yourself having an unexpected deep conversation with a local grandmother, or with a traveler you meet during an evening walk. Please let your shoulders drop, walk slowly, sleep deeply, read your favorite books, and spend your time here just as you feel. I continue this guest house because I love artists, writers, philosophers, mathematicians, and the conversations that happen between people and this island’s way of life. I personally enjoy walking, old houses, the sound of the sea, and quiet early-morning reading time. If you’d like recommendations for walking routes or local places to visit, feel free to ask anytime. I hope your journey becomes a little richer here on this island. I truly look forward to meeting you.

A Whole-Community Guest House on Kurahashi Island, Floating in the Seto Inland Sea Our guest house is located on Kurahashi Island, where old-fashioned alleys, wooden houses, and nostalgic townscapes remain just as they were. It is a “regional all-in-one guest house”, where the entire island becomes part of your stay. Artists from around the world—professional painters, musicians, writers, philosophers, and mathematicians—come for long-term residencies to work on their creations in a peaceful environment surrounded by sea, mountains, and silence. The house itself is a simple 100-year-old folk home, intentionally kept with only the minimum essentials. It is designed as a place for dialogue—with nature, with travelers, and ultimately, with yourself. Unlike a typical hotel where guests “receive services,” our concept encourages you to become an active participant in island life— a place where you live, not just stay. This is the greatest uniqueness of our facility: a guest house where you immerse yourself in the everyday life of the island and experience the whole community as your field of creation. Nearby you will find: A beloved local okonomiyaki diner An award-winning sake brewery with international recognition Narrow village alleys and dramatic panoramic views of the archipelago The entire island becomes an open studio— a creative field for writing, composing, sketching, thinking, and exploring. Many of our guests describe their stay as “deeply inspiring” and “creatively liberating.” What We Do to Offer a Better Stay 1. A Space That Invites Dialogue with Nature To help guests open up naturally—even with strangers—we design the atmosphere with care: A 100-year-old traditional home as a shared dialogue space Soft, low lighting Time and space intentionally left as “blank margins” for creativity Digital-detox-friendly rooms with no unnecessary devices Here, conversations arise gently, without forcing anything. The environment itself does the work. 2. Minimal Hospitalit
