Mori Lodge is a cozy yet spacious 5-bedroom self-catered lodge that offers 3 complimentary 4WD vehicles. “Mori” means “forest” and the panoramic views of the alpine landscape and Mount Myoko from the lounge and bedrooms are absolutely breathtaking. Mori Lodge is wonderfully warm and welcoming with heated carpet flooring and all the modern comforts you’d expect in your private ski haven. It is decorated with the flair and attention to detail Snowball Japan properties are so well known for and is serviced by professional on-site staff who are on-call to assist at any moment. Each of the 5 spacious bedrooms have a simple ensuite toilet and shower, offering convenience and privacy. There’s a large commercial-style kitchen for easy and enjoyable group meals, a wide-open lounge and dining area with stereo system to unwind after skiing, a drying room for your gear, and a gorgeous Japanese tatami room with books, games and a retro playstation for relaxing evening fun.

We are in the cultural heartland of Japan close to the famous Snowm Monkeys of Japan, art galleries, temples and so much more. The local food in the region is delicious with much of it being a perfect combination of traditional Japanese, modern influences and many restaurants using seasonal produce. We love our lives here and love sharing what we have with our guests.

Mori Lodge is nestled in the picturesque Tangram Ski Resort side of Madarao mountain, which joins seamlessly with Madarao Ski Resort. It is an easy 2-hour trip from Tokyo, then an easy 5-minute walk from your private lodge to the nearest ski lift. You can walk mere steps along your street to a choice of bars and restaurants or drive just 15 minutes to the restaurants, activities and facilities of either Madarao or Myoko Kogen. With the benefit of your own 4WD cars, you can explore this world-class ski region with resorts like Nozawa Onsen, Myoko Kogen, Togari Onsen, Shiga Kogen, Kurohime, Lotte Arai and Togakushi all within 15-60 minutes’ drive. We're also happy to help arrange discounted lift passes and assist with gear rental or English-speaking ski/snowboard lessons for Madarao-Tangram mountain.
