Tamaya Inn is a private rental house located in a quiet residential area near Nagaoka University of Art and Design. Built in 1981, it's a small 56m² (598 sq ft) inn, but it's been renovated with a retro and pop Japanese style, featuring retro game consoles, mahjong, and a kotatsu table. Escape the hustle and bustle and enjoy a unique, retro experience. The Shinano River flows near the inn, perfect for riverside runs. In summer, experience the spectacular Nagaoka Fireworks Festival, one of Japan's three major fireworks displays. Located in central Nagaoka City, Tamaya is close to malls, art museums, botanical gardens, sake breweries, famous ramen shops, and major gyms—ideal for families or solo travelers. Its proximity to the expressway interchange and long-stay discounts make it an excellent base for exploring Niigata. The parking lot (accommodates 1 large vehicle and 1 medium vehicle) features bicycle parking and security cameras. ✩ We also offer rentals for small children: toys, step stools for washing, children's body soap, table-mounted child seats, and child toilet seat adapters! I am a mother of two children in my 30s who has lived in Nagaoka City for several years and live with my family and one black cat. I love Nagaoka City because it is a lot of nature such as ocean, mountains, rivers, and firefly and there are museums, fireworks, and large parks, making it a very comfortable place to live with chill Japanese life. I have recently started keeping killifish, and I am thinking about having them at the inn eventually. I wiling to add things that I think would be nice to have from the perspective of a housewife (and sometimes from that of a business traveler hasband). Located right next to the riverbank, it's perfect for running or taking a stroll! In summer, you can enjoy spectacular views of the Nagaoka Fireworks Festival! Numerous commercial facilities, supermarkets, an art museum, a police box, a post office, hospitals, and restaurants are available. At Asahiyama Brewery, a source of pride for Nagaoka, you can savor sake brewed with delicious water and enjoy soba noodles. Brewery tours are available by reservation. Nagaoka City offers the Echigo Hills Park where children and adults can play together, and the breathtaking views of bullfighting and terraced rice fields in Yamakoshi Village. In Ojiya City, right next to Nagaoka, you'll find the birthplace of Nishikigoi koi and the ‘Nishikigoi Village’. Winters here get very cold, and snow tends to accumulate easily. If you want to experience the snow, please dress warmly when you visit!
