Started building in 2015. Opened as Bed & Breakfast 2022. There are currently 14 unique accommodations at the Bamboo Lodge and 3 bathrooms are located outside in separate buildings shared between 3-5 rooms. We have a big terrace with a wooden bar, where we host events like dinner concerts, weddings, ceremonies, company gatherings and the occasional dance party. The garden is surrounding everything and you can find hidden spots to relax. Jungle like footpaths connect it all and eventually will lead you to our lounge, kitchen and bar. The communal meeting point. Kitchen and Lounge are always open and we invite you to make it your home away from home.

Please note that the Bamboo Lodge operates a self-check-in system and that you will find your room key and all instructions at the reception upon arrival. In case of emergency, someone from us is always available for you. Breakfast can be booked for only 10 euros per person. You are then free to use everything you find in our kitchen. We provide a well-stocked refrigerator and bread box. Do you need a bike? We also rent bikes for 10 euro per day. You can pay them cash on location. The lodge is the place to be if you’d like to stay in a semi tropical lodge and enjoy a slightly alternative way of living during your stay. The Bamboo Lodge is not the usual hotel. Every room is unique. Most of our facilities are built using recycled materials that we collect during the year. You can expect a western town meets a tropical garden, meets an alternative hippie/ bohemian lifestyle environment. 2015 we started building the lodge and transforming a concrete plate into a tropical garden with lots of different plant species. The biggest variety of plants is shown in our name. There are around 50 different kinds of Bamboo on site. Free living birds such as chicken, ducks and peacocks make this place alive. During your stay we encourage you to feel at home as much as possible in all our facilities. If you are coming in a group and you want to stay together the best would be you book the following groups of accommodations. The Bamboo Lodge is build on a former Sugar factory terrain and is situated on a 15 minute bicycle trip from the vibrant city center of Groningen. The sugar factory terrain is until 2030 cultural heritage and meant to be used for cultural and alternative purpose. Around the last old building of the factory, the wolkenfabrik, are many different and divers places of interest that offer a great package of activities. Such as different workshops, an escape room, several art galleries, bars, a pedal court, sport studios, the first container hostel and much more.
