Hello, I'm Jacqueline , the hostess of Gillishof Slowlife Holiday Apartments. I will welcome you in this authentic holidayproperty that dates back to 1300. As a real Limburger, hospitality is my priority. We prepare your room with amenities like " the first forgotten stuff" kid and drinkable water to make you feel at home and start your stay right away. I was trained as an artist. Therefore, you will find original paintings of my hand in your apartment. I also wear a big heart to nature. Therefore Gillishof has an organic orchard. We produce our natural products such as fruit juice and jams on a small basis. Gillishof has a family history of 400 years and I, Jacqueline, belong to the 6th generation after the Napoleonic era and one of my ancestors, a Spaniard, settled here during the 80-year war in the 16th century. In your apartment you will find a book with proved information about the history of the house, the family and the neighborhood. With so many historic conquerers coming to my house I am well prepared to welcome people from around the world. Besides Dutch and a native dialect I speak German and English fluent and French and Italian in an understandable way.

Gillishof Slow Life Holiday Apartments are situated in an old farmhouse. It is a typical farmstead, found only in this part of The Netherlands. The structure shows medieval and even Roman building elements. The region was popular in Roman times and you will recognize the typical floorpan of a roman villa. In the village they unearthed two Roman sarcophagi. Since the late seventies of the last century, Gillishof has been transformed from a farm into a holiday accommodation. All apartments are located in the old buildings. The smallest room is for 2 persons and the largest for 12 people. Every room, suite or house has it's own special looks. Every room except for the "Petit Chambre" has it's own kitchen, sitting- and dining area, separate bedrooms and a bathroom. Some rooms have a private terrace or balcony and some have a shared terrace on the inner court. There's a garden with hang-outs and a playground. The complex is well maintained with an eye for the amenities and the trends in society. We clean and prepare your room thoroughly. In case something is not okay we ask you to turn to us immediately instead of complaining afterwards when it's too late to solve the problem.

Gillishof is just 1 km away from the German border. Aachen is the neighboring town and it's only a 10 minutes drive to the city center. On the Dutch side Gillishof is situated in the Limburg hills. This landscape is unique for The Netherlands and is characterized by its gentle hills, beautiful scenery, quaint villages with the typical black and white half-timbered houses. It is also the region of the ancient city of Maastricht. the most burgundian city of the region. In the vicinity are many possibilities for excursions. Think of Snow World, the highest indoor ski slope in Europe or the border triangle in Vaals with the highest mountain of the Netherlands: Gaia Zoo and the caves of Valkenburg; Discovery museum Kerkrade; The cathedral of Aachen; the treasury of Charlemagne in Aachen: exclusive shopping in Maastricht or outlet shopping in Roermond; the most northern vineyards of Europe; the american cemetery in Margraten the CHIO AACHEN or simply walking or cycling in the beautiful national park of South Limburg.
