Prakash Chapagain, the Host and Naturalist of Hotel Rhinoceros-Homestay, is a remarkable young entrepreneur and a proud advocate for sustainable wildlife tourism and human-wildlife coexistence in his community in Chitwan. Born and raised in the lowlands of Nepal, Prakash has always been deeply connected to his country’s rich biodiversity and cultural heritage. With a passion for hospitality and a desire to showcase the flora and fauna in an authentic way to visitors from around the world, he embarked on a journey to establish Hotel Rhinoceros-Homestay, a unique family run tourism business on the edge of Chitwan National Park. Prakash’s vision for Homestay goes beyond just providing accommodation and a safari for tourists. He believes in creating meaningful connections between visitors and the local community, fostering cultural exchange, and promoting responsible tourism practices. As an active Naturalist in Chitwan National Park, he helps visitors to explore the park and organise different tours for their interest and time. In addition to this, he graduated with a Degree of Masters from Tribhuvan University. He also has excellent experience in tiger conservation and research activities in Nepal. Therefore, he organises community-led initiatives such as clean-up campaigns, awareness camps, livelihood enhancement of marginalised communities and various conservation projects to protect our natural surroundings.
