Black Estate is a family owned and operated organic vineyard, winery, and restaurant. Our BnB is a studio apartment adjacent to our restaurant on the Home Vineyard. Our restaurant is Winery Restaurant of the Year for 2023/2024 and we have two Hats from Cuisine Good Food Awards. We practice organics and biodynamics in our viticulture, and our restaurant showcases local and organic seasonal produce. We are a small team and we love to share our knowledge and passion for sustainable and nourishing food, wine, and environment.
Pen and Nicholas are the owners at Black Estate. Pen or a member of her restaurant team will greet you on arrival and ensure you have a warm and welcome stay.
Apart from touring the local wineries, restaurants, and farmers market; the region is known for its stunning environment. Hiking trails nearby include fossil hunting in Waipara Gorge, Maori rock carvings in Waikari, Mt Cass walkway for stunning views across the main divide, and Tirimoana walk through Kanuka forest to the secret beach. We have two complementary bikes, and our BnB is located at the start of the Waipara Valley vineyard bike trail.
