Off the living room, the cozy TV room showcases a large TV and a pull-out queen sofa bed. The charming hallway leads to a modern bathroom with stained glass windows, Italian mosaic tiles, freestanding basin, a bath and separate rain head shower. There is an inbuilt storage cupboard for your use with a hair dryer and additional towels. A compact laundry with washer/dryer adds convenience. The cottage features two exquisite bedrooms; one with a super king bed (convertible to two singles), antique French armoire, both with beautiful linens. The other queen bedroom has a small antique English wardrobe. Both bedrooms are adorned with luxurious wallpaper and include bathrobes for your comfort. Step outside from the living area to the deck, where an outdoor dining area and hydrotherapy spa pool await. Beyond the cottage wander and discover the secret garden. The seven-acre property offers seasonal beauty; daffodil filled meadows and cherry blossoms in spring, orchards and roses in summer, with winter still holding its own charm. The garden, started in 1860 has aged trees, rambling paths, a knot garden, crabapple walk, winter rose area and meadow. The charming aged pool, in the garden's centre is a place to relax, watch the skies and hills in privacy. It is reminiscent of the faded beauty of an Italian pool. A perfect place to wander, pause, swim or picnic in summer.

I love meeting new people! My passions are gardening, design, art and 'making things'. Many of the items in the cottage have been handmade. I am now retired and spend my days in beautiful Christchurch.

Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand Heathcote Valley is one of the most desirable areas in Christchurch offering the perfect blend of rural charm and urban convenience. Surrounded by green open spaces, it feels tranquil while being 10 minutes drive from central Christchurch. - Ferrymead- A short 10-minute walk or 5 minute drive. here you'll find the supermarket, pharmacy and a choice of takeaway food, restaurants or cafes. -Lyttelton, a small bohemian port town is just a 5 min drive away through the tunnel. Lyttleton is renowned for its Saturday morning farmers market and great dining options. - Sumner Beach (10min drive) Christchurch’s most popular beach and some good homeware shops. A beachy laid back vibe is Sumner, excellent surf, great cafes and truly excellent restaurants. Walking around the area is a great way to pass the day. -The Tannery. Christchurch's fabulous conversion of an old tannery into boutique shops, dining areas and cinema. A must to see, 5 minutes drive. - There are many great walking tracks in the area, the new coastal walkway from Ferrymead to Sumner has recently been completed. A walk connects Heathcote through to The Tannery. Getting to Casterton Cottage: Take the Lyttelton Number 28 Bus from the central bus Interchange to midway along Bridle Path Road. Or a 10 min Uber or Taxi from central Christchurch and 30-40 min ride from the airport.
