We choose to live in a valley surrounded by forest park. Our property and lifestyle follow a self sufficient, organic, permacultural approach. Expect to find us in and around the garden or on the land looking after animals. Being self sufficient, to us is living "off the grid" so generating our own power, we also choose to make use of the energies that move through the property so we harvest water, sun, wind (air flow) and light. We have planted thousands of trees; native, trees for future woodlots and food/fruit producing trees. We have built an earth house which is adjacent to the country home we rent. We have protected native bush on 20 of our 35 hectares.

We love to host & share our local knowledge with guests while respecting guest privacy. We enjoy hiking and mountain biking. We love being out in natural spaces, exploring our local streams & forest park. We have a lot of knowledge about our native bush & wildlife.

The Maratoto Valley has farmland & small lifestyle blocks on the valley floor with southern Coromandel Forest Park covering the hills. The Maratoto & Hikutaia streams provide swimming spots in the summer. We have the Wires Track & other walking and mountain bike riding opportunities in the valley & the nearby Hauraki Rail Trail. Fabulous spot for a special occasion surrounded by nature or an 'off grid' week away from your electronic devices.
