The house is a Classic Cottage called Foxglove Cottage ,built in 1871 by a colonial settler named Crawford, with a history and ancestors still in the Region.There has been an extension of a separate bed and bathroom sympathetically added to the cottage and only just finished Nov2025 with a separate entrance but very much part of the house ,with an indoor outdoor flow into the garden area .The guest accommodation is private and has been called Hollywood's Folly after my late husband who died earlier this year .His nickname in the merchant navy was Hollywood and Folly is a little hint at his Scots heritage and also what we might have taken on .The bed is super comfortable with gorgeous soft linen sheets and bed cover ,with a beautiful feather filled eiderdown to throw over on cold nights or while watching a scary movie on Netflix. The bathroom is big and has all the amenities you may need including a hairdryer and extra towel for wrapping your wet hair in ,plus toiletries ,body wash /shampoo /conditioner and hand wash .there is a fridge in the little sleepout for milk etc plus an outdoor table and chairs with a large shade umbrella plus seating around the garden .There is plenty of parking inside the gate and a garage for storage bikes etc .Welcome Buzzy and I look forward to meeting you.

My Late husband Nigel and I hosted a BNB called Islay Cottage in Lower Shotover Queenstown about 10 years ago and we loved meeting new people and helping them enjoy their stay in the region we received wonderful reviews and rated 9.8 with Booking .com.I am now on my own and the meeting and hosting of visitors to Lawrence in our gorgeous historic Cottage offers me another exciting opportunity to make guests stay enjoyable and fun and make new friends . I am Marlene and have a small spoodle dog named Buzzy who is a soft little gentleman who will greet people with his most available toy but has yet to learn that to get a throw he must give it up . We walk together each day for about an hour and I plan to go back to cycling on my e bike this summer .you can feel the history in Foxglove Cottage and the house gently wraps around you while you are here .

The town of Lawrence is a special historic township ,full of houses /churches and buildings built in the mid to late 1800s ,most carry a plaque with the individual history of that building and a great museum full of information about the township .Lawrence also has a gold mining history with Chinese miners panning here in Gabriel's Gully and I would think there is possibly a little more out there but the museum will give you details on the history of gold mining here .A big asset is the Clutha gold trail cycling track and Foxglove Cottage /Hollywoods Folly is on the main highway and very easy to join just by crossing the road . Lawrence is a safe quiet easy place to be if you need a night or 2 to look around or just reboot to head on down the trail .Great cafe's ,pub ,giant ice cream at Night and Day ,Village Green brewer and a market on a Sunday also great shopping ,Saturday /home /Attitude clothing and crafts and little boutique stores to catch on your wander through the Village .
