Welcome to Kingfisher Cottage our 'home away from home'. Kingfisher Cottage was originally the parachute packing hut for Paihia Airport and its intrepid sky divers. We bought the small shed in 2019 and used it as our donkey's hay shed and then made it into accommodation making it twice the size to live in, while we built our new home. Kingfisher Cottage is in a quiet garden location down a no exit road. We have lots of lovely birds visit including tuis, fantails, kingfishers, morporks and kiwi at night. Our cottage has a tranquil feel about it and it endeavours to provide everything you need for a comfortable stay.
David & I welcome you to Kingfisher Cottage and we hope you enjoy your stay with us. We are in a quiet spot but very close to everything the Bay of Islands has to offer, albeit restaurants, cafes, markets and walking & cycling trails, art galleries, beaches and much, much more.
The famous Stone Store is 2 minutes drive away and adjacent to the lovely restaurant the Plough & Feather. ( Bookings preferred) Rainbow Falls is walking distance along the Waitotara Reserve and walkway and provides a breathtaking view of the river and it's falls. The puketi forest is a good place to explore on a sunny day and also the beaches and coast of Matauri Bay, where the Greenpeace Warrior is laid to rest. The area has lots of lovely walks and trails to explore and of course the shopping and week-end markets of Kerikeri.
