If you're feeling adventurous, there are a number of scenic spots to check out, such as Poor Knights Island, Whale Bay, and Woolleys Bay, to name a few. Access to the second level is by external uncovered stairs note a bond may be charged at certain times of the year. There is one over the main entrance at the top of the stairs; the second covers the downstairs main entrance, & the third covers the 2 downstairs sliding doors. A 10-minute drive from Tutukaka or a 2 hour 25 minute drive from Auckland and you'll find yourself in the marine paradise that is Matapouri. Matapouri is one of those idyllic spots, where every corner you turn you'll find yourself in awe as you stumble upon another azure blue cove lined with Pohutukawa or golden dunes.
