For a decade, we sought the perfect place to build our dream home. Then, as if by fate, we stumbled upon this amazing location. Within two hours, we knew this was where our future belonged and had a vision of the home we would create. The subsequent three years were devoted entirely to that pursuit. Nestled on Tawapou Farm, a QE II covenanted sanctuary and Kiwi reserve, our location offers expansive views of pristine native bush and lush Pohutukawa forests. Beyond are the iconic Poor Knights Islands, 22 kilometres offshore, a world-renowned marine reserve and premier diving destination. During the construction of our home, we lived in the eco pods, immersed in the build project. People often asked, "Why build at all when this is such a wonderful place to stay?" Their admiration inspired us to share this special haven with travellers once our home was complete, and so, Ocean Vista was born. We hope you enjoy your time here as much as we do every day. In the past, I hosted international visitors on our farm near Queenstown, which gave guests an opportunity to experience our stunning surroundings whist introducing my young daughters to different cultures and nationalities. It was a deeply rewarding experience for our family, inspiring one of my daughters to establish her own international travel business in Europe. Now, as part of a long held dream for my "retirement" years, alongside my husband Paul, I am thrilled to once again open our doors, this time on the breathtaking and much warmer Tutukaka Coast.

The stunning Tutukaka Coast is a hidden treasure, located just 3 hours north of Auckland and a short 30 minute drive from the vibrant attractions of Whangarei. This coastal paradise is home to an array of pristine, uncrowded beaches, perfect for every type of traveller, whether you’re looking to enjoy a leisurely sandy stroll, a gentle swim, explore secluded bush lined shores, or more active adventures like diving and surfing. We provide beach towels and mats, a chiller bag for picnics and a waterproof bag for wet swimsuits for your convenience when visiting one of our local beaches during your stay. Nature lovers will delight in the variety of local walking trails, ranging from easy 15 minute treks through lush native bush to more challenging hikes for the adventurous. Alternatively, unwind on our spacious deck or in the outdoor bath, entertained by our native birdlife by day or gaze at an unspoiled canopy of stars at night, free from noise and light pollution. Just a few minutes away, the charming Tutukaka Marina exudes a welcoming village vibe, offering an array of cafés, restaurants, and specialty shops to explore. Conveniently situated, our location is also an ideal halfway stopover for travellers heading to the iconic Cape Reinga at the northern tip of the North Island.
