Sunset Chalet is a one bedroom chalet at 8 Murray Place. Newly renovated to a high standard it includes a new comfy queen bed, great shower - bathroom and a kitchenette with all new cooktop, microwave, fridge and flat screen TV connected to Sky TV and Sky sport. The Chalet looks out to the west and hence the Sunsets can be outstanding. The chalet shares the lawn and gardens of Lakeview Cottage and if you walk down onto the lawn, in about 15 steps, you have an awesome view of the Tekapo river and Lake Tekapo. Landscaping and finishing touches will see this as an awesome place to stay. Very close to and walking distance to the center of town and all the tourist attractions.

Peter & I have been married since 1978 and have 4 grown up children who have all left the nest to pursue their own path in life. We are also currently blessed with nine beautiful grandchildren, who live in Canada, France and locally here in Fairlie. Were from a farming background but decided upon a change of lifestyle and shifted to Tekapo in 2004. We started Marie Therese B&B in 2007 in our then current home. Because of popularity and demand we purchased Mapleview Cottage in 2016, and in 2018 we purchased 8 Murray Place from our friends and neighbours. A great property, close to town and with awesome potential. We named these two buildings, Lakeview Cottage and Sunset Chalet. We thoroughly enjoyed running our accommodation options until the pandemic hit in March 2020. That hit tourism hard here and we have since sold Mapleview Cottage and Marie Therese BnB and moved to Fairlie, closer to our family. We still have and rent Lakeview Cottage and Sunset Chalet, and are looking forward to the challenge of the future and meeting more people along the way.

Lake Tekapo is one of the most unique places on this planet. Not only are we graced with the most beautiful night skies, we have the ability to give special people like you the opportunity to stay and enjoy what we have to offer in this ever growing town. Mt John Observatory is only a 15 minute drive to the top and has the most beautiful views of the Mackenzie Basin and Southern Alps. There is also the Astro Cafe which is open during the day. At night, Earth & Sky also offer their very sought after Night Tours. Tekapo Springs offers a Sauna & Spa and also a fantastic venue for ice skating, hot pools and summer & winter tubing. A must for any family. Our local ski field, Round Hill is renowned as one of the best ski-fields for seasoned skiers and boarders, and especially for families. Air Safaris & Tekapo Helicopters offer breath-taking flights over Mt Cook and surrounding areas. We are blessed with many fantastic restaurants and eateries. Lake Tekapo is also becoming very popular for its lovely bike tracks and walk ways. Watch this space for more information.
