The Quails Nest Cottage is uniquely nestled on the boundary of the famous and much-loved Te Puna Quarry Park. A two-minute walk to the top of the road will lead you to the famous gardens which are home to many walking tracks through ponds, cacti, exotic plants, flowers, trees and native planting.
Enjoy the artistic feasts of sculptures or watch monarchs and admirals emerge from the butterfly garden. From the higher climbs are stunning views from the Coromandel ranges to the eastern Bay of Plenty. Within the quarry’s reserve, why not enjoy a walk in the native bush and visit the local waterfall.

Sharing our home so close to the quarry gardens comes with a host of native birds such as pīwakawaka, kererū and tūī. You might even have a visit from our local family of quail that cruise the gardens or our friendly sheep who are partial to a head scratch and keep our lawn edges trimmed.
The cottage is located on Te Puna Quarry Road, right on Tauranga’s doorstep.
Only a 10km drive into the CBD with arterial routes leading to Mount Maunganui, SH2 and other destinations in the wonderful Bay of Plenty.
A two-minute drive toward the city will have you at ‘Te Puna Village’ home to a variety of local businesses. Our personal favourite being the ‘Te Puna Deli’ where you can grab superb freshly brewed coffee, fresh sourdough, stunning cheeses, homemade pastries and a variety of fresh produce. If you’re looking for a beautiful meal why not treat yourself by going to see Jo and Penny and their team at the ‘White House Restaurant and Bar’ offering divine soul food and drinks six days/nights a week.
A ten-minute drive to enjoy a cold brew over lunch at ‘The Cider Factory’ who have been crushing apples, pears, citrus and a host of other fruit into delectable award-winning ciders. You can enjoy them on the spot with a tasting paddle or take some home to enjoy on the cottage deck later. A ten-minute drive will have you at Omokoroa the seaside paradise.
