Located 3 minutes’ drive from Pohara Beach, The Sandcastle is set on a tranquil valley overlooking the sea. It features self-contained cottages with a balcony offering sea and garden views. Located on New Zealand’s south island, Sandcastle Golden Bay is set between The Kahurangi and Abel Tasman National Parks. It is 13 minutes’ drive from shops in Takaka. The pet-friendly cottages each feature handcrafted wooden décor and a kitchen with a electric stovetop, a refrigerator and a microwave. Each has a lounge area with a TV and a dining setting. Guests can share an outdoor meal using the wood-fired pizza oven or the BBQ facilities. The property offers a lovely tranquil garden featuring an olive grove, a pond, sculptures and a small herb garden, free for the guests to pick fresh herbs. Other facilities include massage services and yoga classes.

Guests love the peace, quiet and the setting - the view to the sea from your cottage is very special. Our kiwi bach style cottages sit in extensive gardens and have much to offer. Your cottage is self contained, a good kitchen, your own bathroom and all the linen you will need. It is all provided at excellent value and includes use of sauna and spa complex, bbq and pizza oven (we will light the fire and provide pizza dough). We offer breakfast (mostly sourced from the property), yoga classes and massage on site. We feel the real charm of 'The Sandcastle' is the relaxed atmosphere an the fact Hayley and I are keen to advise on where to visit. There is a lot to see and experience a short drive away. We welcome all enquiries and questions. Thanks Steve
We believe guests are searching for a tranquil place to stay close to nature with a certain kiwi style. We love telling guests of all the unique out the way places that Golden bay offers.
Golden Bay is about open, remote beaches and incredible bush walks. Nearby The Sandcastle is Farewell Spit, Abel Tasman National Park, Waikoropupu springs, Rawhiti Cave, Kahurangi National Park. It is a very special part of New Zealand and we are keen you make the most of your stay and experience as much as possible. Our reception can be accessed 24 hours a day, it is full of information and a blue folder is provided in the cottage to help you decide how to make the most of your visit to beautiful Golden Bay.
