ToiToi Papatotara is a private room with its own entrance, lounge & separate bathroom/toilet at the end wing of our home. There is an additional bedroom with a double bed if you are travelling as a group of 3 or 4 persons. With an amazing ocean view to enjoy whilst you lay in bed or view from the outdoor spa. To the left is the distant view of Stewart Island and to the right is the stunning Fiordland National Park within which sits the latest NZ Great Walk addition - the Hump Ridge Track. Cooking facilities on site are limited to a gas bbq (pizza stone available), microwave, small fridge, jug, toaster and toasted sandwich maker available for your use. Local eating out options include a decent cafe/restaurant/bar (Tui Base Camp), a lovely fish & chip/burger takeaways (Hungry Hippo) or the local Four Square also boasts a range of hot/cold foodstuffs - all approx. 12 kms drive back to Tuatapere. Heading out towards Invercargill with a 25 minute drive, there's the Colac Bay Tavern (great pub food), and another 5 minutes up the road is Riverton, also having several pubs/takeaway options.

We like to leave our guests alone and let them bask in the quietness of our special corner of the world. (We are available for tips on what to see & what to do in the area and we've walked the Hump Ridge Track ourselves if that's what you're down this way to do.)

Tuatapere is about a 10 minute drive from ToiToi Papatotara. Visit the famous Gemstone Beach on your way to Colac Bay (approx 25min drive) or Riverton (approx 35min drive). Invercargill is approximately an hour and ten minutes drive away - the gateway to Bluff and Stewart Island. Heading in the opposite direction, there's NZ's deepest lake, Lake Hauroko (approximately 55 minutes drive away.) While you're in the area don't forget to check out the Clifden Suspension Bridge. Lake Manapouri & Te Anau are only a 50-55 minute drive away and from there you can easily get to Doubtful Sound and/or Milford Sound. You could also turn off and check out Lake Monowai on your way to Manapouri too! From our place, Queenstown is only a two and half hour drive away. We delight in being one of the most south west places you can stay at in New Zealand!
