We, that’s Maarten, Elke, Jozefien, Kamiel and Lowie, spent our holidays in the Algarve since 2014. We feel home in this beautiful environment. We enjoy the nice beaches, surfing, exploring the nature and of course the many nice restaurants 😉 As we always walk by real estate agencies in other countries, we got the idea to buy a plot / house in this region. First just for holiday reasons, but when the time passed by we thought by ourselves “Why not moving to this lovely place?”. Why stay in Belgium and plan so many things for “later”. Hence, we got the idea to build a B&B in stead of a house. In September 2020 we left Belgium for Portugal. Our kids started school and had to learn the language. We had to follow up the construction works and the preparation for B&B Quinta do Ourives. At a certain moment in time, we had to think about a name for our B&B. As Elke used to be a goldsmith in Belgium, we wanted to have a reflection to her passion. Quinta do Ourives means in fact “house of the goldsmith”. For us, this is a dream coming true. For you, we hope that you enjoy as much as we do our B&B, the location, the beaches, restaurants….

Quinta's (old farmhouses) are very typical for the Algarve. Many turned in ruins as farmers left the area and are knocked down to be replaced by modern villa's. Because of the fact that we really love the quinta's, we decided to rebuild our ruin on the exact same place as the old farmhouse. As we decided the rebuild the old farmhouse but with all the modern features, we told the builders to use typical portuguese materials like Santa Catharine (old clay tiles) and the typical construction methods. Today, Quinta do Ourives is a boutique B&B with 6 rooms / suites / appartments (from 2 up to 5 persons) with a lot of luxury (airco, rain showers, underfloor heating, bluetooth speakers,.. ). There is also a large pool 15 x 5 meter. Around the B&B, there are also a lot of cosy corners with lounge chairs. The name Quinta do Ourives means "house of the goldsmith" and refers to the former profession of the host as Elke used to be a goldsmith in Belgium.

B&B Quinta do Ourives is located in Carvoeiro, a former fishing village close at the beach. It is located on a hill (with spectacular 360° views!) close to many beaches and lovely restaurants. Surfing, hiking, supping, watching dolphins,... are only a few things which can be done in the neighbourhood.
