A 40m2 self-contained apartment on the ground floor of a traditional stone built farmhouse in a tranquil rural location. The apartment features a bedroom/living room with king side bed, sofa, smart TV, built in wardrobe, and dining table. There is a fully equipped kitchen, a wet-room and decked terrace with parasol and outdoor dining table. From May to October guests have use of a 6m x 3.75m pool and sun deck shared with the hosts who live on site and guests in one other 2 person accommodation. The apartment is on the ground floor of the last house at the end of a paved road a few minutes drive from Serpins, and enjoys scenic forest and mountain views. Amenities are not far away. Serpins is 5 minutes drive or a 35 minute walk away and has a small independent supermarket, two bakery/cafes and a traditional village restaurant amongst other amenities. The larger towns of Lousã and Góis are both a 15 minute drive away and the historic university city of Coimbra is a 35 minute drive away. For those without their own transport there is a regular bus service connecting Serpins to Coimbra via Lousã and Miranda do Corvo. Please do not hesitate to message if you have any queries about getting around the area or to and from the apartment. It is the perfect space to enjoy all year round. The apartment naturally maintains a comfortable ambient temperature through the summer months. Portable electric heaters and an electric mattress warmer are available to ensure a cosy stay during the cooler months of the year.

Serpins is a small town and parish in the municipality of Lousã, surrounded by forested hills and mountains. It has a popular river beach, Praia Fluvial Senhora da Graça, which is 5 minutes drive or approx 35 minute walk from the apartment, normally open for swimming from June to September (dates variable). There is a bar at the river beach which is open daily to late throughout the summer months and is normally open at weekends during the the rest of the year. Serpins also has two cafe/bakeries, the nearest of which to the apartment, Casa do Pão, also serves meals. There is a pharmacy, a Sports Bar, a traditional snackbar/restaurant, two independent supermarkets, petrol station and Multibanco ATM. The apartment is close to Cabril do Ceira (5 minutes drive, 35 minute walk) which is a scenic wild swimming spot in a deep gorge. This is a popular site in the summer with limited parking and no amenities and we recommend visiting early in the day for the best experience, particularly at weekends. Directly from the apartment you can access many kilometers of forest and hill trails suitable for hiking or the experienced mountain biker. Your hosts can provide some suggested routes. Lousã is a larger market town approx 15 minutes drive from the apartment and has all the amenities you would expect from a major town, including several large supermarkets and numerous restaurants, cafes and bars. Nestled under the Serra da Lousã it also features a charming historic centre and several museums. Above the town in the Serra you can visit the enchanting Castelo da Lousã and it's river beach, which is also the starting point for a number of mountain hiking trails taking in several picturesque mountain Schist Villages (Aldeias do Xisto) including the famous Talasnal. Coimbra, a famous University city and UNESCO world heritage site on the banks of the river Mondego is approx 35 minutes drive from the apartment and is a must visit.
