"It's getting so beautiful, we have to share this house!" I was born in Lisboa and grew up here in the village. Viola was born in Cologne. We met and fell in love at the end of our studies during an artist residency in Dortmund. Then our daughter was born and we had been living as artists in Berlin for a few years, when the wish was awakened to put this house, which had belonged to my grandparents, in order again, in order to spend holidays here in the village. And so we gave the house new windows and an insulated roof. In addition, I laid wooden floorboards on the floor, re-plastered some walls with clay and lime, and installed an efficient fireplace. In front of it is the most comfortable sofa we know and an unbelievably beautiful view of the green of the cork oaks. Viola carved the wardrobe out of a cork oak and with my brother, who also studied design, we built a king-size bed out of local walnut. And on the terrace with old bricks from the village, there are now a pair of deck chairs and a hammock. We love this place. Welcome to Casalinho! Jorge and Viola Lopes

The house is a traditionally built stone house and has been lovingly renovated by the owners until 2022. On the ground floor, there is a large, bright living and dining room with a very well-equipped kitchenette, a bathroom, and two equally sized rooms, one with a large double bed (180x200), the other with two single beds (90x200), which can be separated or pushed together as needed. In the attic, there is a very small room with a bed (125x200) and another room with a double bed (180x200). The house keeps the heat out quite well in summer. For the cold season, there is a fireplace in the living room. More information about the surrounding area: Tomar: On the way to Tomar you pass the famous aqueduct (Aqueduto dos Pegões). In the town there are other sights, the Templar Castle (Castelo dos Templários) and the Convent of Christ (Convento de Cristo), both World Heritage Sites. The old town invites you to stroll through its small streets and there are numerous cafés and restaurants. Bathing possibilities: On the river Nabão with several small, shallow bathing spots about 20 minutes away, a public bathing spot on the river Nabão, "Agroal", and various bathing spots at the reservoir "Castelo do Bode". One of the nearest beaches on the Atlantic is Nazaré, about an hour's drive away. Hiking: There is a variety of hiking trails in the area, and the Way of St. James passes through our village. Excursions: The Unesco heritage monasteries in Alcobaça (Mosteiro de Alcobaça) and Batalha (Mosteiro de Santa Maria da Vitória) are worth a visit, both less than an hour away. The beautiful student city of Coimbra is an hour's drive away, and Lisbon takes 1.5 hours. Shopping facilities: A baker comes through the street with a vehicle selling bread Monday to Saturday mornings, and a fish truck comes on Thursdays. The nearest small grocery shop is 5 minutes away by car, and there are several supermarkets in Tomar.
