It is also located 100 m from the famous Rota Vincentina coastal hike and within an hour drive from 15 wineries and over 40 golf courses. Portugal has been named Europe's 'Best Golf Destination'. It is truly your private paradise! Let us know if you want the private pool heated for 25 Euros/day. This is normally not needed in the summer. On weekday mornings Amelia, our amazing housekeeper for over 25 years, provides exceptional daily housekeeping services. In a friendly and completely non-intrusive way, she keeps Casa da Figueira spotless. Towels are changed twice/week and linen once a week for free and she even does your laundry for free if needed. Amelia makes you feel welcome and immediately at home.

We were both born in Europe and now live in Boston, MA. Jesus teaches at MIT and Sophie just retired after many years in the technology industry. We have 6 grown-up children, now young adults who love to visit Casa da Figueira. Sophie's parents bought Casa da Figueira when she was a teenager in the 1970s. Every year during the winter months we do renovations and improvements to Casa da Figueira. Our latest projects are the bathrooms, pool, fountain and back patio/orangerie. Casa da Figueira's location is perfect: Lisbon is a 3 hour highway drive and Faro is a 1 hour highway drive to Casa Figueira. Casa Figueira is situated in the quiet and residential Parque da Praia ("Beach Park") neighborhood adjacent to the beach. It is a 2 min walk to the safe and large sandy Praia da Luz beach. In fact, you can hear the waves while enjoying breakfast on one of the three terraces. The 70 m walkway gets you to a little cobble stone street that is one block from the eastern side of the beach. The Algarve has 40 fabulous golf courses, with the Boa Vista Course just 5 min from Casa da Figueira. The Algarve also has over 15 wineries within an hour drive. The villa is also one block from a nature trail that goes up the cliffs and is ideal for jogging, walking, biking or to witness amazing sunsets. The eastern limit of the beach of Luz is marked by the famous “black rock” noticeable since all the other cliffs are golden orange. Praia da Luz retains the charm and character of a traditional Portuguese village yet offers excellent facilities to complement the broad, safe, sandy beach.
