Flattered to be in Tomar features modernly-renovated apartments, within a 35-minute drive from Fátima. The carefully-decorated units are located in the centre of Tomar, with a view over the Convent of Christ. Featuring contemporary design pieces, each unit has an equipped kitchenette, sited in an open space which includes sofas, a flat-screen satellite TV, DVD player, iPod dock and a dining table. Private bathrooms come with a hairdryer and free toiletries. Guests may cook their own meals in the equipped kitchenettes. Alternatively, local restaurants, cafés and even a farmer’s market are available within a short walk. The property is 400 metres from São João Baptista Church. It is 40 km from Abrantes. Lisbon International Airport is 129 km from the Flattered to be in Tomar.

The apartments Flattered to be in Tomar are located at the heart of the city, one step away from the Nabão River and with a privileged scenic view over the Convent of Christ. Take a deep breath and let yourself go. In the meantime, besides the centennial history, discover the little restaurants and “tascas”, the shops from another era, the historic cafes and even a true Farmers Market with real local farmers. Here you will be able to enjoy the charm of a small countryside town in a contemporary setting framed by quietness and comfort. The architectural design, authored by Architect José Carlos Cruz, was set out to rehabilitate apartments from the end of the 1940's and restore them the dignity they once had. All units were treated in order to modernize equipments and infrastructures, adapting them to a new use and always respecting, whenever possible, the original materials. Complying with a sharp idea of comfort, all the apartments bear a unique signature. The colors, the coatings, the floorings, the contemporary vs. vintage pieces, the lightings, the small bookcases and also the works from the Flattered Art Collection all layered and overlapping each other to enrich the spaces.

Tomar was founded in the mid twelfth century and at its helm sits the Castle of the Knights Templar overlooking the city and the whole surrounding region. Within its grounds lays the famous Convent of Christ, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1983. During the first centuries, in the Middle Ages, the city was the Portuguese headquarters of the Order of the Knights Templar which later survived as the Order of Christ. Its privileges and wealth were behind the great Portuguese maritime ventures of the fifteenth century, which partly explains the city’s political and spiritual relevance over the centuries. The city’s historical center is a true maze of narrow cobbled streets perfect for strolling. Astonishing buildings from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, as well as memorable examples of Gothic and Renaissance architecture can be admired. The Synagogue, one of the oldest in Portugal, is a must see stop. If you are looking for a place to sit back and relax while reading a book or just soaking up the sun, the city’s central park is the perfect spot. Just a few kilometers away you will find the Castelo de Bode dam, a perfect place for numerous water sports.
