The apartment is part of the old Hallstahammar's railway station, which was built at the turn of the 19th century in 1900. Together with the railway, the building is part of a profound change in society around the turn of the century. The railway was a major reason for the development and emergence of industries and societies during the first half of the 20th century. The station was for a long period one of the Hallstahammar's gathering points and thus has an identity and a symbolic value. Similar railway station buildings can be found in other locations in Västmanland. The station building is largely well-preserved since the time of construction in terms of proportions, building materials and design, which gives a good insight of its creation time. The building tells about the time of construction, common building materials and architectural styles. The station building has, among other things, features of Art Nouveau, English cottage style and Swiss style, which is typical of station buildings that were built around turn of the century 1900. The apartment consists of 1 bedroom with semi double bed (180cmx200cm) a loft for a child bed (80cmx180cm), 1 living room, 1 fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine, stove and oven, refrigerator and coffee machine and a bathroom with shower. Our family has lived in the house since 2020. During these few years we devoted ourselves to preserving the cultural and historical values of the house. Much has been done, but much remains to be done. For the good of the house our goal with the renovation is to make the best choice possible with application of old traditional methods, techniques and materials, depending on conditions.

The house is located in an area where you can engage in activities such as hiking, mountain biking and fishing. Sörkvarnsforsen nature reserve is 100 m away. If you are keen in golf, you can make a use of few golf courses located in Surahammar/Västerås (Surahammars Golfklubb is 15 km away). For the ones interested in mountain biking, there is an access to the Hallstahammar MTB tracks about 2 km away. Longer and more variable routes are in the area of the Surahammars Golfklubb (15 km) and at Rocklunda in Västerås (23 km). The nearest bathing place is 300 m away - Skantzöbadet, a seasonal outdoor swimming pool with three pools (approx. 25-26°C), indoor golf, dining. A few good outdoor swimming places in vicinity - Sotebo in Strömsholm (13 km), Surahammars Campingbadet (18 km) and Utomhusbad Brattheden in Rämnas (24 km). 10 km away there is a historical Strömsholms Castle. The nearest airport is Västerås airport, the railway station is 100 m away.
