My name is Lisa, I am the owner and host of the Nortra apartments. With a master's degree in Hospitality, I am also a licensed local tour guide. The first moment I came to Soča Valley I fell in love with it, which was 17 years ago, and since then I haven't gone away from it. I would like to share this hidden pearl with everyone--which is the main reason that I became a tour guide, and then later a host as well. The village of Gabrje is small with 150 households in total. It stretches about 1 km along the old road connecting Tolmin and Kobarid. There are several access points to the Soča River in the village, the best ones are around the camp Gabrje. locals made a small beach and kids love to jump into the river from the big rock that stands in the middle of the river, "Štruča" is the nickname of the rock. The "must-see" point in Gabrje is the Grofova Voda-- the source of the spring water that runs through the village. The water is said to have a special energy that heals peoples' bodies and souls. I don't know about the energy of the water, but I guarantee you that the walk up to the source itself can definitely benefit your body and soul. it takes about 30 -40 minutes to walk up, good walking shoes are needed. you will also pass by a waterfall, the crystal water that falls from the sky brings chilly air that can cool you down in the hot summertime. An old mill stands in the middle of the village, you can find a signboard showing you how to go up. ( if you come from Tolmin, it is at the beginning of the village on the right side)
