Located on the edge of the town of Kočevje, in the quiet neighborhood of Trata, the apartment is just 300 meters from the lake, and the town center is within easy walking distance — only 15 minutes away. It’s the perfect base for exploring the local and surrounding areas, known for their rich natural and cultural heritage, as well as numerous opportunities for an active and varied getaway. In 2025, the property was fully renovated and modernized, with great care given to details and comfort. The apartment features a fully equipped kitchen with appliances and a selection of basic food items and spices, a comfortable bathroom, two bedrooms, and a living area with a small book and music collection. A gaming console for children is available in one of the bedrooms. You can also enjoy playing musical instruments provided in the apartment (upright piano, acoustic guitar, djembe, and small percussion). The living room opens onto a spacious and comfortable balcony, perfect for enjoying a relaxed breakfast, preparing lunch on the grill, or extending your day into a pleasant evening (please note that the outdoor dining area and the outdoor kitchen, including the grill, are not available during the winter season). The apartment also includes two free parking spaces. Your hosts will be Barbara and Rok. We grew up in a beautiful corner of Slovenia, surrounded by lush green nature, which we love to share and inspire our guests with. By profession, we are a mechanical engineer and a nurse. In our free time, we are enthusiastic gardeners, and otherwise, we are fully occupied parents of a lively little child. We enjoy socializing, spending time outdoors, and in the summer, swimming in the nearby lake. We love traveling to more exotic destinations and exploring nature, customs, and local cuisine. On our travels, we are always inspired by genuine hospitality and the unique homes we visit. Kočevsko, the secret forest of Slovenia. Welcome to Kočevsko, a mystical forested landscape in southern Slovenia, nestled on a high plateau above the border river Kolpa. Vast forests cover nearly 80% of the Kočevje municipality, the largest in Slovenia, much of which is part of the Natura 2000 protected area. These forests are home to numerous animal species and large European predators — lynx, wolf, and bear. We are particularly proud of the primeval forest remnants of Rajhenav and Krokar, the latter recognized as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site. Kočevsko is also the ancient home of the beech tree, which spread across Europe after the last Ice Age. In the Kočevsko forests, numerous free and organized activities await: hiking and trekking on marked trails, walks along forest educational paths, survival workshops in nature, mushroom picking, cycling and mountain biking descents, panoramic flights, horseback riding, and photo safaris. Guided bear watching and wolf tracking are also available. A popular excursion spot near the town of Kočevje is the Rudniško lake, formed after mining ceased in the 1980s. The well-maintained beach attracts many swimmers in summer, and many also enjoy stand-up paddleboarding and boating. The lake is well known among anglers in the region as one of the best fishing spots in Slovenia, with trophy-sized carp and pike. A short 30-minute drive from Kočevje brings you to the scenic Kolpa River valley, known for its clean swimming areas, welcoming inns, and excellent rafting, kayaking, and canoeing experiences.
