Nestled under the shade of our amazing Mgongo tree, the house offers comfort, charm, and a warm village atmosphere — the perfect place to unwind. Newly built and designed with space and airflow in mind, the house features two independent one-bedroom apartments on the ground floor and a third apartment upstairs. Each space is bright, breezy, and thoughtfully furnished for a relaxed stay. Enjoy island life to the fullest with your own outdoor kitchen and living area, perfect for cooking or simply lounging in the shade. Each kitchen is fully equipped with a private fridge, stove, blender, and electric kettle — everything you need for a comfortable self-catering stay. The bedrooms in the downstairs apartments come with an extra single bed, ideal as a sofa or to accommodate a third guest. Bathrooms are spacious, fresh, and filled with natural light. To make your stay even more comfortable, we offer air conditioning, hot water, WiFi, and a washing machine. And for a special moment at the end of the day, take the spiral staircase up to the rooftop terrace, where you can enjoy a peaceful ocean view, catch the sea breeze, and watch the sun set over Jambiani. Mgongo Tree House is located in the quiet and authentic sub-village of Mwendawima, home to what is arguably the most beautiful stretch of beach in Jambiani. The beach here is wide and walkable even during high tide, with soft white sand and very few rocks or sea urchins — making it perfect for long, barefoot strolls or simply relaxing by the water. During low tide, the beach transforms into a vast sandbank that stretches toward a natural tidal channel known locally as “the river.” This current stays fresh and flowing, offering a unique and refreshing spot to swim. Please note: the current can be strong, and crossing to the other side on foot is not recommended. If you'd like to explore further or reach the coral reef, just let us know — we can arrange a ride on a traditional wooden boat. Our guesthouse is tucked inside the village itself, offering you a peaceful setting while still being part of the vibrant local life. While the area is generally tranquil — especially at night — please keep in mind that village life includes its own soundtrack: the call to prayer from the nearby mosques, children playing, cows wandering by, and the occasional rooster. Along the village road, you’ll find plenty of small shops selling fresh fruits, vegetables, and daily essentials. For a wider selection, The Bazaar on the nearby tarmac road offers a mini-supermarket experience. For anything more, the lively town of Paje is just a short ride away.
