Brad and I are retired and loving this new chapter together. He’s a fifth-generation cherry farmer from Leelanau County, and I began my career as a switchboard operator with Michigan Bell before working with MSU and later Munson Medical Center until 2013. Though we still have the farm, we purchased this beautiful East Bay property in 2012 and transformed it into an oasis of secret gardens and cozy spaces—our dream retreat and now a welcoming vacation rental. While we don’t have children, we share our home with five joyful rescue dogs: Ava, our gentle Bernese Mountain Dog; Sammi and Dewi, our wise old corgi twins; Penny Dreadful, our dramatic mini dachshund; and Chapulina, our spirited chihuahua mix. The dogs are safely fenced in our yard, but they love to greet guests before trotting off to follow Brad around the garden. We’ve poured love into every corner of Blū House—from homemade cherry jam to a complimentary bottle of local wine—and we hope you’ll feel it the moment you arrive. It’s a place to rest, recharge, and maybe even become part of the story.
