This studio with covered porch and garden views was renovated for visitors to Bloomington in 2022 and upgraded in 2023 with ductless mini-split AC and heat. It is filled with wood, stone and other natural materials to help you relax and feel at home, with hi-tech conveniences like a Keurig, Bluetooth speaker, ring light and a Smart Roku TV. East-facing windows make this space bright and sunny. This is a fully enclosed apartment in a historic home in the McDoel Gardens neighborhood, 5-min to the B-Line, Hopscotch Coffee and Cardinal Spirits. 15 min walk to downtown. 25 min walk to campus.
Nejla rhymes with "beige-la" - and don't worry, it's okay if you mispronounce it. :) I have visited 75 countries now, mostly on solo trips, so I have a bit of travel experience myself - that's why I have created this local bnb space in a boutique hotel style. Besides having traveled extensively, I have also lived in Istanbul, Brussels, the UK, California and the Washington DC area - so you may notice any of those cultural influences in my bnb. I enjoy meeting my guests and sharing my love for Bloomington, hiking and traveling with visitors from near and far away. I try to meet all guests at check-in, which is any time after 3pm, or can be as early as 1pm if you message me in advance to arrange it. I’m also highly responsive to messaging on the Airbnb app or by text messaging. In an emergency, please call me on the phone, leave a voicemail, and I will call you right back.
McDoel Gardens is a historic working-class neighborhood of Bloomington with lovely gardens and views of the city. It was one of the neighborhoods that housed the nearby RCA employees, one of Bloomington's largest employers until 1997. The apartment is only two blocks from the rail-to-trail line called the B-Line that takes you right into downtown Bloomington. It is also about 4-5 blocks from Switchyard Park, Bloomington's largest and newest park.

NO CATS!!! Absolutely no cats are allowed. Dogs are welcome. Sorry - I'm allergic to cats and they chew the plants.

Shoes: Please remove all shoes at the door.

Quiet hours: For the comfort of all guests, please observe quiet hours from 11pm - 9am both while indoors and while outdoors in the parking area, backyard and porches.

Dogs: Guests may use the fenced-in backyard to exercise their dogs. Please clean up after your dog using the scooper provided - just toss the dog waste over the fence. NOTE: Yard is shared with me, other guests and our dogs. Please do not enter the yard if it is already occupied without checking first, especially when dogs are present.

Trash: Please use the trash cans provided under the kitchen sink and in the bathroom. If you need to dispose of trash bags before leaving, please put them in the grey bins behind the house by walking around the back of the house through the gated backyard.

Smoking: Smoking and vaping allowed ONLY on the outside porch or in the backyard with all doors and windows completely closed to keep the smell out of the apartment. Please use ashtray provided. If the apartment smells like smoke/vape of any kind, I will charge a $150 smoke removal fee.

Linens: Please only use the towels/sheets/blankets that are left out for the guests in the bathroom and on the beds. Guests who use excessive amounts of linens from the storage spaces will be a charged a $15-25 extra linen fee.

Dishes: Please wash your own dishes before leaving, including glasses and mugs. Thank you. :)
