Sunshine Cozy Cottages has been in business for over 30 years. Before the current name, it was called Uncle Milt's Cottages. The beach is right across the street from our site & walking distance to popular restaurants, parks, museum and more. There's a trolley stop right in front of the cottages that one can hop on & off to take a trip up & down Gulf Blvd. Family & friends enjoy get togethers In our large courtyard with a BBQ grill & lounge chairs for sunbathing. Located in Indian Rocks Beach, these lovely, quaint cottages complete with their old-fashioned porches may seem to be from another era; that’s because they are. Our 14 cottages that comprise Sunshine Cozy Cottages date back to pre-WW II, ca. 1930. Originally built at MacDill Air force Base as officers’ quarters, the cottages remained on this military base through the 2nd World War and were barged over to Indian Rocks Beach around 1945. Our cottages became one of the first resorts on the beach and today remains one of the few original resorts that started the Gulf Beach trend. During the 1950s Arthur Godfrey and his band, including Don Cherry, broadcast his radio show from Sunshine Cozy Cottages and many big band era personalities such as the McGuire Sisters would stay and perform at our cottages. Many years later a two-lane road was built between Sunshine Cozy Cottages and the beach. These days you can still view the Gulf from the private porches of several of the cottages while having your children play safely in the large grassy courtyard. Our courtyard is a treat since most places along the beaches are sand and concrete. Here are 8 Unique Facts about Sunshine Cozy Cottages, located on one of the safest beach in Florida! 1️⃣ In 1993, we won the Beautification Award for renovating a historic property. 🏆 2️⃣ The Cottages are 80+ years old, and were barged over from McDill Air-force Base after WWII. 🛩 3️⃣ Some of the cottages have Heart Pine floors, which you can’t even source anymore! They are sanded down and beautiful! 🌲 4️⃣ Most of the cottages have cute porches, perfect for coffee in the morning. Then, simply walk across the road to the beach (just 300 feet)! ☕️🏖 5️⃣ We also received the 2012 Indian Rocks Preservation Award! 🏅 6️⃣ Arthur Godfrey and the McGuire Sisters performed here in the 1950’s. 🎶 7️⃣ American Indians would come to this property to consume the healing waters from the Artesian well that runs under the property. 💧
