Lake Chatuge is a man-made reservoir with 132 miles of shoreline set to the backdrop of the Appalachian Mountains, just six miles away. Residents and visitors flock to Towns County during peak season for the boating, swimming, skiing, fishing, and camping opportunities this beautiful lake hosts. Located off Highway 76, the Towns County Recreational Beach offers free parking and beach access with a large playground, a roped-off swimming area, a covered pavilion, picnic tables, and chair rentals. Other must-visit attractions include the Appalachian Trail, Bell Mountain, Brasstown Bald, and High Shoals Falls.
