The vision to build a leisure company started in 2007 when we acquired our first property Aan de Oever. We wanted to share more of our beautiful town, Swellendam, with guests and travelers from all over the world and gradually the Aan de Leisure Collection evolved to 37 rooms to date. We are an ever evolving and growing company and our dream does not stop here. We have a passion for hospitality and strive to create spaces for guests where they can relax and feel at home. We pride ourselves in delivering excellent service at world class standards. Aan de Heuvel Self – Catering Cottages are part of Aan de Leisure Collection. Aan de Heuvel has three exquisite double en-suite cottages boasting stunning views of the Langeberg Mountains. The atmosphere is carefree and relaxing making the cottages ideal for families and friends to enjoy a weekend getaway or mid week break. The style of the cottages are country meets contemporary design. The cottages are situated within walking distance from local attractions, our museum and popular restaurants. These cottages have fantastic mountain and town views, warm fireplaces, and sheltered ‘braai’ areas next to a small outdoor splash pool & garden. All three cottages come equipped with solar as alternative energy source. Say goodbye to loadshedding! All three cottages have two bedrooms, two bathrooms, comfortable sitting areas with open plan kitchens. Wood and stone finishing creates a warm atmosphere with big sliding glass doors onto the small ‘stoep’ with ‘braai’ area. Both bedrooms are furnished with king or twin beds, both with built-in cupboards. Both kitchens are fully equipped including a stove, oven, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, microwave, and tea- and coffee- making facilities. There is a washing machine for added comfort and convenience.

We do supply heaps of information in the cottage you can look at to decide what & where to go! Swellendam is steeped in history & offers you natural beauty with spectacular views. For starters Swellendam has some of the best cycling routes in the Overberg district. We also have spectacular hiking trails, said to be a ‘must’ on any hiker’s bucket list, During your stay, enjoy our swimming pool, deck and ‘braai’ area with a sundowner in hand for golden hour, “cheers-ing” to the setting sun! A visit to Drostdy Museum. This former government building, an architectural treasure in itself, is now a museum containing some impressive artifacts. Photograph the Dutch Reformed Church. Rumour has it, it is the most photographed church in South Africa. Take a hike in Marloth Nature Reserve, the Duiwelsbos hiking route’s distance is a steep 1km and will take about 2 hours, depending on your agility. There is a beautiful deck at the waterfall, remember a snack for a mini pic-nic. Sulina’s Fairy Sanctuary will make every child’s and even grown ups fairy tale dreams come to life. Stroll through Swellengrebel Street beneath the lush oak trees and take a look at the wonderful shops and have a bite to eat at one of our lovely restaurants. If you are looking to explore a bit further, our surrounding towns welcomes travelers with open arms. We have a few day trips we can recommend that can be explored from Swellendam.
