Arniston Seaside Cottages have been an integral part of Arniston since 1990. They were built by Robert Haarburger between 1990 and 1994. They were designed in the Cape vernacular style with thatched roofs. This style of architecture is a more informal version of the old Cape Dutch style and is well suited to residential architecture, with pitched roofs, fascias and small, regularly spaced windows. They also mimic the style of the houses in the nearby fishing village of Kassiesbaai. The cottages are 3-star graded by the South African Tourism Board and offer luxury self-catering accommodation in the popular seaside resort town of Arniston, recommended by Time Magazine as “one of the world’s best hideaways”. Arniston Seaside Cottages are a sister establishment to the nearby Arniston Spa Hotel and to the Houw Hoek Hotel, which is 130km from the cottages.

Arniston Seaside Cottages offers many accommodation options – with smaller units as well as larger cottages that can be combined to accommodate groups of any size, from a honeymoon couple to a party of 80. The peaceful ambience is enhanced by light and airy living areas and some cottages have balconies with panoramic views of the unspoiled coastline. The cottages are suitable for children of all ages and you may also bring your pets, by arrangement. Our luxury cottages were designed in the Cape vernacular style with thatch-roofs. Their light and airy living areas are created by high exposed ceilings and quarry-tile floors. For those cosy winter days, we have open indoor log fireplaces and electric blankets. Bedding, towels and soap are provided. We also have outdoor undercover barbecue areas and the cottages are fully equipped and offer guest-house bouquet DStv and free WiFi. There is ample free parking. The cottages are serviced daily, allowing you to live the relaxed lifestyle of Arniston.

There is so much to do in and around Arniston. The family-friendly sandy beaches are all within walking distance of the cottages and are safe for swimming. You can swim, surf or go snorkelling in the warm and welcoming sea. The fishing here is excellent as we are close to a marine reserve. There are beautiful walks on the endless unspoilt coastline. The whale watching is world class and you are sure to spot the Southern Right whale frolicking in the turquoise-coloured sea. Less than a 40 minute walk from the cottages is the most incredible natural feature, Waenhuiskrans Cave, an enormous sea cave which is only accessible at low tide. Here in Arniston, mother nature ensures that you get away from it all.
