Nestled in the heart of the Cango Valley (R328) Oudtshoorn, Die Fonteine Country Guesthouse and Glamping offers elegantly decorated rooms with private patios that provide stunning views of the Schoemanshoek Valley and the Swartberg Mountain Range. Each room features rustic furnishings, a cozy sitting area, and complimentary tea, coffee, and sherry. The private bathrooms are equipped with an old-world bathtub and a walk-in shower. Guests can enjoy a freshly prepared breakfast each morning on the covered veranda overlooking the beautiful gardens. For a relaxing afternoon, coffee, tea, and cake can be served, or guests can enjoy a local wine with a cheeseboard under the veranda. A picnic basket can be arranged for a visit to the nearby Rust and Vrede Waterfall, located 15 km away. For dining options, there are three restaurants within a 5 km radius of Die Fonteine. The owner is happy to assist in arranging trips to the Karusa Winery and Cango Ostrich Farm just 200 meters away. The renowned Swartberg Pass is a short 20 km drive from the guest house, and both the Cango Caves, Cango Wildlife Ranch, Rust and Vrede Waterfall, Buffelsdrift Game Lodge are less than a 15-minute drive away. Pre-booked dinner with an set menu is also available.

Die Fonteine Guest House offers six en-suite bedrooms and two glamping tents and is managed by the owners, ensuring a personal and relaxed stay. Located just outside Oudtshoorn, in the Schoemanshoek Valley, the guest house lies along the route to the Cango Caves, Swartberg Mountain Pass, Cango Ostrich Farm, Karusa Winery, and Rust en Vrede Waterfall. Facilities at Die Fonteine Guest House include a swimming pool, peaceful garden areas, and secure on-site parking.
We manage Die Fonteine ourselves and enjoy offering a peaceful countryside stay. From time to time, homemade jams, local produce, and farm-fresh eggs form part of the experience. Small touches that reflect life on the farm and the slower pace of the valley.
Die Fonteine is located in the Schoemanshoek Valley, just outside Oudtshoorn, offering a quieter and more scenic alternative to staying in town. The valley is known for its open farmland, mountain views, and relaxed pace, while remaining conveniently close to the region’s main attractions. The Cango Caves are approximately 10 minutes’ drive, central Oudtshoorn about 15 minutes, and the Swartberg Mountain Pass around 25 minutes away. With Oudtshoorn’s warm climate, guests enjoy exploring during the day and returning to the calm of the valley to cool off with a refreshing swim.
