The farm has a secure electric fence right around and guests can go for walks along the farm road around the farm- about 2.3 km walk or run. We are at the foot of the Klein Drakenstein mountain, so the views over the valley and toward the mountains are beautiful. We can function off the grid with regards to electricity and water. Guests won't ever be affected by any power outages. To get here: Drive along N1 from Cape Town in direction Worcester. Take exit 62B (Sonstraal Pad) and turn left into Sonstraal road. Follow it for 1.8km and on the right will be a green road sign "Minie pad/Hawequa Bospad".Turn right into Hawequa Bospad and follow it for 1.4km. On your left you will find gate marked DRAKEIN farm. Press Button 1 on intercom. It is a working farm, but the farmstead and cottage are both secured with an additional top-of-the-line fencing system that separate them from the rest of the property, as well as analytic security cameras. My dogs don't have access to the garden of the cottage as I fenced it off and guests have a space with some lawn and their own splash pool and sun loungers in that area. The patio is private and we have never heard our guests chatting, music etc.

Hi! We own a farm called Drakein, near the town of Paarl where we produce wine grapes. We are very social and love to travel. Our children are students and we only have the 4 dogs and a cat here now. Guests can have as much interaction with us as they wish. Just ask! We love giving advice on restaurants or tourist attractions nearby, but as we also travel often, we know that there are times when you just need your privacy and some peace.

There are other wine farms and a huge olive orchard bordering our farm. It takes about 5 mins to get to Drakenstein Shopping Centre and 12 min to get to Paarl Mall where most items you may need can be purchased. Food, chemist, cosmetics, clothing, luggage, decor etc. The town of Paarl also has lovely restaurants and Paarl Mountain Nature Reserve is close. 30 mins to Stellenbosch and Franschhoek and Cape Town is about 45 mins away. Lots of wine farms to visit of course!
