Featuring free WiFi and an outdoor pool, Gecko Cottages offers accommodation in Hectorspruit, 20-minutes’ drive from Kruger National Park. Free private parking is available on site. Gecko offers three different accommodation options. There is an air-conditioned cottage with a seating area, terrace, private swimming pool and a fully-equipped kitchen. In addition, the property also offers two types of studio accommodation. The Standard Studio is a Queen room with en suite bathroom and BBQ facilities, while the Comfort Twin Room offers a twin room with en suite bathroom and a large screened patio with an outdoor kitchenette. Dinners are available on weekday evenings at an additional charge. For the more adventurous, Gecko Cottages can arrange a day Safari in the Kruger National Park, payable directly to the Safari company. We’re delighted to welcome your furry companions! Please note that only The Cottage @ Gecko offers a secure space designed for their comfort. There’s a small additional charge of R250.00 per night, which covers up to one large dog or two small dogs. Support dogs stay free of charge—we’re proud to accommodate their important role in your journey. Smoking permitted in the guests outside area. Please no smoking in the rooms. The Malelane Gate is 19 km from Gecko Cottages. The nearest airport is Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport, 78 km from the property.

Andrew is South African born and bred, lived in the area until his 20's then spent time in Mozambique working and then moved to Cape Town, where we met. I was born in Germany to a British Army Family. As a child I traveled A LOT, went to many different schools, so was pretty much thrown into meeting new people every couple of years. I expect this is why I enjoy communication and people. We have a good knowledge of our area, especially the Kruger National Park, so we can help our guests with places to visit. We love to travel locally and enjoy the Kruger National Park (even though we don't go as often as we would like. Mozambique and Swaziland are also favorites (being so close). I personally believe that we live in the best part of South Africa, the weather is good, the people are great, the landscape is stunning, what more could one want.

Gecko Cottage is a private fully walled cottage within its own gardens with private pool. Completely isolated away from the main house. NB: Gecko Cottage is available to be booked at a special price for two persons sharing either in a Twin Room or Double room, just select two persons. In addition we are able to offer two studio type rooms, The first is our Twin (or King) unit Hyena @ Gecko, with its own private screened large patio including BBQ, Gas stove top and washup sink area. Additionally the Annex @ Gecko is a queen studio unit with BBQ on the small screened courtyard area. We offer Dinner, Breakfast and Lunch Packs if required, please pre-book these options.

Hectorspruit is a quiet mixed diverse neighborhood. Is a small community, where most people know each other. We have a local butcher, off licence and a small convenience shop with a take away section (classic South African 'slap chips', fish and Sausage). The famous Buffalo Hotel is a 5 min walk from the cottage, here is a Bar and restaurant. Yes, you can walk here, the area is safe. You can bring your bikes and cycle the area (that is a popular hobby here).
