Gentle Presence Cottage 2 is ideal for business travelers and couples, sleeping 2 persons. It has a well equipped kitchenette, an outdoor patio with a braai area and a firepit. All linen and towels are provided. The property is one of the oldest in Clarens, dating back to the early 1900's. It is thought to have been the stables of a larger farm, where farmers gathered for Nagmaal (Holy Communion). Due to the exceptional views of the Rooiberge including Mt Horeb and the Malutis, the home was originally given the name Kyk Die Berge in the 1960’s. The current owners are the 3rd owners and have loving converted and restored the property to ensure guest comfort whilst maintaining the origanl charm of the property.

We purchased the property in 2015 when we moved to Clarens. In 2016, we discovered the beautiful history of the property when we wanted to build onto the main building. We are the 3rd owners and were presented with the plans by the building inspector at a free hand drawing in inches and feet, with smoke coming out of the chimney. We decided to preserve the Cottage and instead open it to guests to enjoy. Cottage 1 was opened to guests in 2018, and has kept it's historical charm of wooden creaking floors, farmstyle kitchen, shower over bath, etc but with modern finishes to ensure guest comforts. In May 2024, we completely gutted the outer room used as our laundry and opened Cottage 2, just in time for our local Arts Festival. It is hugely popular with business travelers and couples alike. We love travel and people and have used our knowledge in ensuring that our Cottages offer guests a quality stay at affordable pricing. Guests enjoy the coziness of the Cottages but the comfort they offer making them feel like they are home away from home!

Ideally situated just 300mtrs away from the Village Square where most events take place. Guests are able to walk from the property to shops, restaurants, art galleries. Golden Gate National Park and Fouriesburg are nearby, making hiking or entry into Lesotho easy. Clarens is considered one of the highest villages in South Africa and is known for it's exceptional warmth and hospitality. Hiking in Clarens Nature Conservancy and around Clarens and Golden Gate are a must.
