We are in the hospitality business now for 18 years and started with Petit Plaisir Cottage. Recently we decided to buy and renovate the house next door, into 2 units: Grande Plaisir, for 6 guests and Protea Apartment for 2 guests. It took us 4 months of running around, my husband did the planning and designs and I had to fill Grande Plaisir with furniture, art work and the rest, (everything I loved). I was shopping for 4 months and kept fingers crossed that it all will look good together. We have a garden gate between the 2 properties and I can easily be reached all hours.

Louis & I met each other in Cape Town during our studies. I grew up on a wine farm near Wellington and Louis on a sheep farm in the Kalahari, Namibia. After our studies we got married and moved to Namibia for 4 years. My mum saw a small job advert in the paper, which she thought was the perfect way to get us back to the Winelands. We moved to Franschhoek in 1988, with 2 small daughters, one was a toddler and the other a new born. Since then Louis is in the fruit industry. They pack and export stone fruit, soft citrus and persimmons all over the world. We built our 2nd house in Franschhoek in 2005. Louis decided to keep me busy all year round by building the Petit Plaisir Cottage. That was 18 years back. I had a wonderful time spoiling my guests, working in the garden and raising our 3 kids. If you stay home for 1 unit, you might as well expand the business.... We bought a new property middle 2015 and started renovations at the beginning of August 2015. After 4 months of running between the 2 properties, we welcomed our first guests just before Xmas at Grande Plaisir.

Petit and Grande Plaisir is only 10 minutes walk to the village center, situated in a peaceful residential area, where our restaurants are the main attraction. Only 5 minutes down the road, you will find the Huguenot Museum and beautiful gardens of the French Huguenot Monument. Wine farms are easily reached with the Franschhoek Wine Tram or by car.
