Set along the N2, 40 minutes from Jeffreys Bay to the west and Addo Elephant National Park (South Gate) to the East, Hen & Hound offers self-catering accommodation in Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha). Baywest Mall is 9 km away. The cottage provides all the essentials for a comfortable stay. Linen is provided and the bedroom is equipped with a double bed, dresser and a built-in wardrobe. The bathroom is fitted with a shower and towels are provided. The open-plan living area provides a seating area, kitchenette and dining area. A sliding door opens on to an enclosed deck with bar stools. This deck leads onto the covered carport where BBQ facilities are available. Along with the needed cutlery and crockery, the cottage has a free-standing 3-plate stove with oven, a fridge and freezer combo unit and a microwave. A toaster and kettle are provided. The cottage is set within a 2.5 hectare smallholding, home to a tribe of Nigerian Dwarf goats, two donkeys, geese and chickens. Guests are welcome to meet the animals as they take a short walk to the small dam on the property. The cottage is within a fenced area with no animal access to the cottage. In addition, the entire property is fenced and a remote gate provides access.

Baywest Mall is close by and offers a range of retail stores, supermarkets and dining options. The very small 'village' center known as Cows Corner is a great stop en route to Maitland beach. Within the village you can find a filling station, farmstall, restaurants, a doctors surgery and a vet clinic. The area is great for nature lovers with The Island Nature Reserve 6 km away and Maitland Nature Reserve 10 km away. With a 13 km drive, Maitland Beach falls within the reserve and provides for a great day at the beach. The beach lacks major facilities and there is no public transport access making it a peaceful visit without the usual beach-going crowds.
