Mountain View Cottage offers the perfect setting for enjoying the picturesque views of the Hogsback Mountains and walks through our garden or just listen to all the birdlife. It is a short stroll from the natural beauty, numerous walking trails, and restaurants that Hogsback has to offer. Our cottage is perfect for a couple and offers an open plan lounge and bedroom with a cosy fireplace to keep you warm on those chilly evenings. The modern kitchen has been completely renovated and offers everything you would need to make yourself feel at home, including a gas hob, tea, coffee and homemade rusks. The cottage offers an en-suite bathroom that has a gas shower. The private patio has amazing views of Hog 1 and there is also a built in braai for those warm summer evenings. We are a modern urban family of 4 who every weekend left the big smoke of Johannesburg and headed to the countryside. For a decade we tried to convince ourselves that this was great, yet something was missing… Inspired by a Netflix documentary on Alaska, we set out to find our South African equivalent. A place to live, work and love where we could be free, have a simpler life and become more self reliant. We are now lucky enough to share our beautiful bit of South Africa…

Hogsback is a little village hidden away, high up in the Amatola mountain range. It is surrounded by indigenous afromontane forest that provides a certain mystical, magical charm that soothes the spirit and rejuvenates the soul. The many hiking trails lead adventurous visitors past glorious waterfalls and past ancient trees. It is also home to the last remaining Cape parrots and the colourful Knysna Loerie. The majestic views and spectacular sunrises and sunsets can only fill you with wonder, peace and tranquility.
