Off grid permaculture farm stay in the Klein Karoo tucked away on the Groot Swartberg Mountains . Our water is gravity fed from a spring in the mountains and is alive and is free of harmful chemicals and contaminants. We have 15 Km of hiking trails and the most beautiful pristine waterfalls. The cottage is fully equipped with two bedrooms, The main bedroom with a double bed and a second bedroom with two single beds or doubles up as one king size bed. An outside bathing area is a real treat to use. We have a natural spring water swimming pool free of harmful chemicals plus an outside toilet with views of the mountains. There is an indoor donkey that backs up as a fireplace to keep one warm on cold winter nights. We have just over a 1000 hectares of pristine land and boast no fewer than ten habitat types of the Klein Karoo on the farm from Fynbos to Karoo thicket and succulents. A hanging meditation chair on a "koppie" is the ideal place for stress release. All guest will need to sign an indemnity form on arrival. Check in time is from 12 noon to 5pm. Check out time is from 10am. Minimum vehicle requirement to cottage is a rear wheel drive with high ground clearance. pet friendly.

There is lots to do in and around De Rust. The famous Cango Caves is nearby as is Meiringspoort , the most beautiful pass connecting the Small Karoo to the Great Karoo. There are numerous Ostrich farms to visit in the area. Horse riding is available on a nearby farm as is star gazing through the telescope of the very knowledgeable James Van Vuuren. Then there is the magnificent Swartberg Pass which connects Oudtshoorn with Prince Albert, a small village in the Great Karoo. Or hike to a pristine waterfall on the property. Or simply just chill out on this magnificent paradise.
