Treat yourself to a tranquil, romantic cottage on the slopes of a Hout Bay mountain. Enjoy sitting on your secluded deck listening to birdsong. A winding path leads to your stunning private vineyard where you can enjoy a glass of bubbles and appreciate the spectacular views of mountains and Hout Bay valley. The cottage has a large living area with a warming wood-burning stove, modern kitchen and an en-suite bedroom. A unique feature is an opportunity to bath outside under the stars! Please note that we do have a friendly dog Midnight and two kitties who roam the property freely. We also have two pre-teen children. Unfortunately I am unable to answer questions from guests ahead of you making a booking. I have found this out the hard way. Please be assured that we have a working alarm system and beams surrounding the property. This is connected to an armed response company. There is also an active community crime prevention organisation which is in 24 hours contact with core emergency services. We have lived on the property for 12 years and have never had any serious incidents of crime. The neighbourhood where we live has a boom at the entrance. This is also a deterrent. And cameras are situated at various strategic points on the mountain and in the neighbourhood. These are monitored.

I work from home as a medical writer and copy editor while I juggle raising two children and the demands of work. I enjoy the beauty and wonder of nature and we are truly spoiled in Hout Bay with close proximity to mountains and sea. Hout Bay valley is a village within a city. It has everything you need (shops, restaurants, markets), while also being at the beach and surrounded by mountains. It is 20 minutes from the City Centre, and there are three scenic drives outside of Hout Bay: 1. Constantia Nek which takes you through to the Constantia wine valley or to the Southern Suburbs; 2. Suikerbossie and Llandudno which takes you into Camps Bay, Bantry Bay, Seapoint and Town; and Chapmans Peak, an exquisite toll road that takes you to Noordhoek, Kommetjie and Cape Point. This is a really beautiful part of the world, and Cape Town. More specifically, the neighbourhood this house is located in, Meadows, is a lovely neighbourhood in Hout Bay with North-facing views of beautiful, surrounding mountains. The neighbourhood has a security boom as you enter, manned by Deep Blue, our local security company. The neighbourhood is generally quiet, and enjoys a friendly atmosphere. There is a field, or "Meadow" available to the area, which is pleasant for a stroll, particularly for dog-walkers. The area enjoys gorgeous, afternoon sunshine and exquisite sunsets.
